Bracknell, Berkshire, Station Road c1912

Bracknell, Berkshire, Station Road circa 1912. The building on the left, Station Hotel, is thankfully still there. It is now called The Goose. The buildings in the middle have long since gone. The building in front of the chimney has a sign on the window that says 'Fuller, Story & Co, Order Office' which would indicate that it was a subsidiary of the main Fuller, Story & Co brewers in Maidenhead. This postcard is unusual in that the modern Street View scene is busier than the old postcard. Postcard by W. H. Applebee of Ashford. Click the postcard to enlarge.

  1. Quite a contrast, especially when you turn around in Google Streetview and see such a massive modern office block. Looks like a LOT of earth was moved around to level the road. Horses had less complicated needs.
