He had another shop in willesden high street and his company name 'st Pauls pianos' is still written on the wall there. His father, Rock Chidley, worked for Sir Charles Wheatstone making concertinas :-) Elainehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15711662375672662595noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-484198747535822445.post-74741209706408723952013-04-29T21:02:50.735+01:002013-04-29T21:02:50.735+01:00So much to see in this old photo! So much to see in this old photo!Kathyhttp://abbieandeveline.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-484198747535822445.post-73748170308842664832013-04-29T14:40:29.342+01:002013-04-29T14:40:29.342+01:00The street looks relatively quiet for a main thoro...The street looks relatively quiet for a main thoroughfare; perhaps it was taken quite early in the morning. Action, details, people, and a dog too. Have you found any photocards of a place taken in different decades? I would think a High Street like this might be photographed almost as often as Google's Camera does now. I notice the To Let Sign - just the one shop vacant, it looks like that anyway. Hard to imagine a high street like that nowadays. From what I've read pianos were hard to give away by the end of WW1, probably not much demand for new ones through the war years.Lisa Bhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10562101358640638937noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-484198747535822445.post-6523397336480357752013-04-27T04:31:29.405+01:002013-04-27T04:31:29.405+01:00Apart from the awnings, the view doesn't look ...Apart from the awnings, the view doesn't look to be much changed, and not too much of the gaudy signage that seems so ubiquitous, either.Brett Paynehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07706734864792449845noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-484198747535822445.post-13702057166887047262013-04-26T23:39:39.625+01:002013-04-26T23:39:39.625+01:00I love that you actually found a photo with a man ...I love that you actually found a photo with a man and a newspaper.
